“La Manga 365”, winning project in the Smart Mobility category and “La Palma Smart Island”, finalist project in the Smart Cities category.

The Planning, Tourism and City area has been working on the “LaManga365” project for Telefónica, a project in which a set of ICT tools are being developed in the fields of tourism, mobility and citizen participation with the aim of transforming the territory of La Manga into a Smart City.

A mobile application provides citizens and visitors with up-to-date information on the state of the beaches, events and cultural activities and commercial establishments in the municipalities of La Manga del Mar Menor. Likewise, the mobile application offers real-time information on the public transport system (waiting times at stops, location of buses and their occupancy) and on the car park network (occupancy status). The application also integrates a functionality for the communication of incidents on public roads which, together with the development of a citizen participation portal and an open data portal, provides tools for the transformation of La Manga into a smart government: open, electronic and innovative.

This project, after being selected as a finalist project for the enerTIC awards, has finally been selected as the winning project in the Smart Mobility category.

In turn, within the Smart Cities category, the project “La Palma Smart Island” has also been selected as a finalist project, where COTESA is once again collaborating with Telefónica.

The La Palma Smart Island project aims to achieve a rational and efficient use of energy, with a commitment to the use of renewable energies, electro-mobility and the development of a Smart territory (including areas of Open Government, Tourism, Facilities Reserve at island level…).

The aim is to achieve energy savings of 20% and to reduce atmospheric emissions by more than 6,000 tonnes of CO2 per year in the project area.
