Webcasting. Spatial Data Infrastructure

The Spatial Data Infrastructure used for the EIEL allows for the dissemination of the results of the survey to all public bodies, management companies as well as citizens in a simple and accessible way.

The Ministry of Territorial Administration encouraged those Cities who have a GIS to disseminate the results of the EIEL using an SDI, thereby making the process more useful and beneficial. This process allows the City to participate actively and obtain real, up-to-date information.

This system is intended to be an open, interoperable service, based on the philosophy behind INSPIRE (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe) and OGC (Open GeoSpatial Consortium) interoperability standards.

Publication via SDI (Spatial Data Infrastructure) consists of a map service with dynamic navigation and consultation functions, which using different layers, displays information in an interactive way. It also connects with other sources of posted information in format WMS (Web Map Service).

The connection between the different sources is bidirectional because the same EIEL posted via SDI can be integrated with other similar platforms, for example IDEE (Spanish Spatial Data Infrastructure, www.idee.es).
