Health and Safety Coordination

Royal Decree 1627/1997, Article 3.2, October 24, states that when the execution of works involves several companies or self-employed workers and a company, the developer must appoint a health and safety coordinator. The coordinator must carry out various functions such as:

  • Coordination and implementation of the general principles of prevention and safety.
  • Implementation and enforcement of the standards set by the Prevention of Occupational Risks law.
  • Approval of the safety plan for the works.
  • Coordination and control of work methods.
  • Establishing measures necessary to control access to the works, only allowing access by authorized personnel.
