Project Management Office

A Project Management Office (PMO) is the management body responsible for the planning, supervision and oversight of the progress of a project or a set of projects (program, strategic plan). To achieve this, it distributes information to all involved levels of management and fosters the descion making process.

Its objective is to support project managers throughout the management of the project providing training, procedures, support and methodology for more effective project management.

Some of the projects carried out by Grupo Tecopy:

  • Migration of backend TRON21. It was the most critical and strategic project for the Directorate-General for Technology and Procedures during 2008 and 2009. It implied a fundamental technological change in the operation and business of MAPFRE. It involved more than 200 participants from diverse areas and providers of such importance as HP, IBM, Oracle, EMC, T-Systems, etc. It was developed in the offices of MAPFRE and at the IBM client center, PSSC, in Montpellier. Our role was to lead, from the initial phases to the implementation of the technological change, the oversight and monitoring of, both the technical as well as the economic, project iniciatives, coordinating providers as well as internal technology and business units.
  • New System of Credit Insurance Management. A current project for the Business Unit, whose main objective is the implementation of a new system for issuing credit insurance and migration of the existing one. It is the central project for the Business Unit; several providers are taking part. Our work consists of providing support to the project management, carrying out the tasks of monitoring and oversight during the execution of the project and coordinating the operational launch on the new platform.
  • PMO-NFC. The coordination of the Program Management Office for the Tri-operator project to develop the NFC ecosystem with the objective of a launch in H1 2012 which would allow for the implementation of this technology in sectors such as Banking and Transport. Trial periods will be carried out this year by Orange Spain in conjunction with the Banking sector, transport companies in the B2C residential sector (EMT Malaga), "LoB Personnel“, in conjunction with local administration and companies in the B2B sector (Cubas de la Sagra, Urbaser) "LoB Companies".
