Dynamic map of renewable potential at a municipal scale

Project objectives:

The general objective of the RENERMap project is to achieve a detailed analysis of the renewable potential available at the municipal level to respond to the demand for energy that it generates, achieving the development of energy self-sufficient municipalities and helping in decision-making towards a renewable energy transition that contribute to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.
Renewable energies play a fundamental role in reducing emissions, being fundamental elements for the transition through sustainable policies that allow the decarbonization of the energy sector. For this reason, knowing the energy resources available in a territory and the potential that could be extracted from them is essential as a tool for the development of new installations based on renewable energies, both at the level of large installations and self-consumption installations. In addition, the prototype will allow the definition of areas of interest for the development of new projects considering the areas with the best potential in the municipality.
Taking this starting point into account, the RENERMap project is proposed, through which it will be attempted to address the problem of supporting the deployment of renewable energies in the municipalities of the region, through a web visualization prototype of renewable energy potential.
